Out today: "The Scroll and Its Combinations," the third and likely best-yet release by the Wellwater Conspiracy, a long-running project by former Soundgarden drummer Matt Cameron. Wellwater's last disc, "Brotherhood of Electric," was a rootsy album contained killer melodies and riffs and a lot of promise. The Scroll and Its Combinations promises to build on that.

Visit Wellwater's official site to listen to each track off "The Scroll and Its Combinations." Reviews online: The All Music Guide gave it a four-and-a-half-stars; Wall of Sound reports, "the level of Wellwater's work elevates the band at least eight miles above your standard current combo."

Expect this to be one of the best, and most unheralded, rock albums of the year. I'll be buying my copy this week.
